Only Sky Inks Strategic Partnership with Winter Park Resort, an Alterra Mountain Company Destination

January 30, 2019, DENVER, CO -- Only Sky, the leading software provider for mountain experience & activity providers, today announced the rollout of its Atmosphere product, in partnership with Winter Park Resort, an Alterra Mountain Company destination. Alterra Mountain Company, a leading mountain destination company with 14 resorts, launched the Atmosphere product at its Winter Park Resort property, located just 67 miles from Denver, Colorado.

Atmosphere is a peer to peer, experience-based platform enabling guests at innovative mountain destinations like Winter Park Resort to book bespoke experiences with individual guides, under the oversight of the resort. Guests can read profiles, reviews, and find amazing experiences year-round ranging from ski and snowboard to snowshoe, Sno-Go, and more.

“We couldn’t be more proud to roll out the Atmosphere product with Winter Park. Our goal at Only Sky has always been to make it easier for people to experience the mountains. I couldn’t think of a better partner than Winter Park & Alterra to roll out this industry-first product offering” stated Michael Stocker, CEO at Only Sky. “We want to overhaul the repeatable experience of simply taking a bus to a ski area for a day on the mountain. The ever-evolving consumer is looking for new ways to enjoy mountain destinations, and Atmosphere fills the gap for those seeking out non-traditional activities” he continued.

Olympic Gold Medalist and Two-Time Overall Alpine World Cup Champion Bode Miller, who is also an Only Sky investor and advisor, added “Having spent decades on skis across the globe on the World Cup circuit, I’ve enjoyed many remarkable and unique experiences with passionate people. Every mountain traveler, whether on skis, a snowboard, or something else, should have access to these special experiences. Atmosphere is finally empowering mountain destinations to offer just that.”

This partnership represents an important step for Winter Park Resort and the mountain destination industry, as consumers are increasingly looking for new types of in-market travel experiences beyond traditional offerings. By creating both a peer-to-peer model, and a more curated experience, the partnership aims to cater to those mountain consumers who truly desire something special while in-market.

“At Winter Park Resort, we know the best way to experience the mountain is with a knowledgeable guide who knows the secret stashes to ski, and the quickest way to access them. Maps and way-finding will never replace the intimate knowledge of a local who knows not only where to ski or ride but when to ski or ride it based on weather and snow conditions” stated Tom Carey, Vice President of Guest Experience at Winter Park Resort. “With its peer-to-peer based booking solution, capable of matching guests with guides, we felt Atmosphere was critical to the success of our new guided experiences” he continued.

Experiences, which are live now, can be booked via Atmosphere at Read profiles, reviews, and more, about the over 40 different guides for snowboarding, skiing, Sno-Go, and snowshoe. Experiences are available for up to 3 guests at no additional cost, and are available in 2 to 6 hour increments, including options with exclusive early access before lifts open to the public.
